Occupational Health & Safety
Importance In The Workplace

Employers face a wide range of duties and initiatives aimed at protecting the health and welfare of their employees. The purpose of health and safety law is to ensure a safe working environment for employees. In the UK, this requires employers to meet health and safety obligations, covered by a vast range of legislation.

As a minimum, employers should:

  • Publish a health and safety policy if they employ more than five people.
  • Take out and maintain a compulsory insurance policy, known as Employers’ Liability Insurance, which covers employees against accidents and ill health.
  • Arrange for the appointment of health and safety representatives.
  • Establish a health and safety committee if requested by a recognised trade union.
  • Appoint a competent person to evaluate risks and hazards.
  • Arrange periodic risk assessments.
  • Consult with employee health and safety representatives.
  • Inform staff of risks and steps taken to protect them.
  • Provide adequate safety training to address risks, as appropriate.
  • Comply with the updated provisions concerning health and safety posters and leaflets.
  • Monitor and improve safety arrangements.
  • Adapt work to the individual especially with respect to the design of workplaces.
  • Establish procedures to be followed in the event of serious and imminent danger to persons working in the organisation.
  • Provide comprehensible and relevant health and safety information.

Our Certifications and Accreditations

About Bridgend,
South West Wales

Bridgend is a town in Bridgend County Borough in Wales, 20 miles west of Cardiff and 20 miles east of Swansea. The town is named after the medieval bridge over the River Ogmore. The River Ewenny also flows through the town. The population was 49,597 in 2021.

Bridgend has developed from a small, vibrant market town to a major regional industrial and service centre. Bridgend’s position roughly equidistant between Cardiff and Swansea has made it a popular dormitory settlement for commuters to both cities.

Bridgend was perhaps most famously home to a Ford Motor Company engine plant (now closed), that was one of the area’s biggest employers, but it also used to have a significant presence by Japanese electronics giant Sony.

Bridgend Train Station

Bridgend railway station is a main line station serving the town of Bridgend, south Wales. It is located approximately halfway between Cardiff Central and Swansea stations, at the point where the Maesteg Line diverges from the South Wales Main Line; it is also the western terminus of the Vale of Glamorgan Line from Cardiff. It is 165 miles measured from London Paddington.

The station was opened on 18 June 1850, and both the main platform building and the 1877 pedestrian bridge are Grade II listed.

It is the fifth-busiest station in Wales, after Cardiff Central, Cardiff Queen Street, Newport and Swansea.

Porthcawl Elvis Festival

Every September, thousands of Elvis fans gather at Porthcawl Beach for the largest festival of its kind in the world – a unique celebration of The King himself!

Twenty venues in the area form the festival, making it the biggest Elvis event in Europe.

You can expect a whole range of great events including competitions, live acts and celebrations of Elvis, all taking place in the magnificent Grand Pavilion.
