Our new initiative offering FREE training for charities

CC Training 1 1

We are excited to announce that we will be offering free training for charities across South Wales on a quarterly basis.

We recognise that many charities do not have the financial resources to pay for training, so our Managing Director, Cherie Coughlan, is dedicating time every quarter to offer free training to charities and non-profit organisations.

It’s our way of providing our expertise to those who may not have access or knowledge otherwise, and is tailored to each charity depending on their industry, size and risks.

The initiative began with charity MMI Trading with Care, who offer dementia care services, care partner support, and provide emotional support, reassurance and opportunities for the person and/or their family living with dementia to socialise in a relaxed and friendly setting.

The training involved educating staff on several health and safety aspects such as:

  • Potential hazards and risks they may face.
  • The appropriate measures to deal with such risks.
  • How to follow any emergency procedures.

Training of this kind is ideal for a wide variety of employees, including:

  • New recruits who need basic induction training in how to work safely, including arrangements for first aid, fire and evacuation.
  • Those who have changed roles or have taken on extra responsibilities.
  • Employee representatives or safety representatives, or those who require updated information.

It is a requirement for businesses to understand and implement health and safety procedures for the protection of staff, and employees themselves also have specific responsibilities under health and safety law to:

  • Take care of their own health and safety, and that of others
  • Co-operate with the suggested measures and comply with health and safety legislation
  • Follow any instructions or health and safety training
  • Disclose any workplace situations that present a serious and imminent risk

Jenn Williams, Director at MMI Trading and Care, said:

“We recently received Risk Assessment training from the team at CoreGenic, it was really easy to understand and they are a friendly team to work with. Would highly recommend.”

We will be choosing one charity every quarter for this scheme, so if you are part of a non-profit organisation who require this type of training, get in touch to become part of our database of charities.
